Today was just a great walk to work. Coming out of the hotel the entire city was blanketed in fog. Over the course of my 30-minute walk I got to see the fog slowly melt away, slipping between the tall skyscrapers like tributaries of some ethereal river. Praise the Lord for amazing works of nature even amongst the concrete jungle of Abu Dhabi.
Picked up Dunkin’ Donuts (I know, not exactly roughing it) on my way in to work this morning and had an interesting conversation with the Philippino lady who works there. She’s been in the UAE nine months; her first two months were in Dubai. She expressed dissatisfaction with Dubai and I asked her to explain. She said it something like this, “all shopping, no taxis, and people not good.” Interesting.
