So, we’ve been in Abu Dhabi a week… a few observations to share:
- The weather is beautiful.
- There is much here that is foreign to my sense of smell. Many cultures with many distinct scents, perfumes, colognes, cooking spices, etc. One scent that remains the same, cross-cultural if you will, is that of a full trash dumpster.
- The weather is gorgeous.
- Rain is front-page news.
- The muezzin’s call-to-prayer is distinct. It is almost enchanting. That’s note quite the word I’m looking for though. There is something to learn in this Muslim recitation of basic doctrines. The first call of the day includes a phrase that translates, “Prayer is better than sleep.”
